CHANGE.

If you had the power to change one law, what would it be and why?

Trying to narrow down the list of laws I’d change is something that took a while to think of. It was between the regulation of recreational marijuana use at the federal level or a law eliminating the Electoral College and implementing terms limits for the Legislative branch. Both laws I believe would place the true power of choice in the hands of the everyday person. It’s been proven time and time again that recreational marijuana has more positive effects than negative both on the mind and body. Seeing as though the stigma that was placed on it from the early 1900’s has since dissolved over time. It’s time to treat almost as they do alcohol and tobacco which each have way worse effects on people than cannabis ever has. The outlawing of it was simply based on a racial bias that drove relations in our country back then. But as generations change so do their ideas and ideals. What was once common place has since been outdated and just like anything else in life the intelligent ones amongst understand that, you must continuously update your formula and go with what works.

The Electoral College….the proverbial thorn in anyone who knows anything about the Presidential election works’ side. That level of the video game you can never beat. The days of someone aspiring to become “King” have since passed us by. We are now in an era where people are tired of being spoon fed false information from someone who basically is simply a figurehead. Strangely enough there have been term limits placed on the Executive branch but not the Legislative. A Senator or Congressperson can be 88 years old still serving but…there’s on how many terms the President can serve. I will say that, things may smooth out more if the popular vote was actually taken into consideration. People would feel more inclined to participate in the political process, instead of feeling like their votes never count.
